Worship Service at Jubilee Fellowship Ministries

Posted by Help Liberia Foundation on October 08, 2004

On Sunday, 17 July, the Executive Director worshipped at the Jubilee Fellowship Ministries where he was invited as the guest preacher for the day.

It was the last day of Mr. Harry’s three-day visit to the city of Buchanan. Brother Samuel Nimely, the church leader whose invitation took the Executive Director to Buchanan, is the Pastor.

Bible study was held for one hour ( from 9:am-10:am), followed by an hour of praise-and-worship section. This section consisted of soul-lifting songs, dances, etc. The African rhythm could be heard in the songs, the drums and the sasa (a kind of African musical instrument). After this, there was a 30-minute section for testimonies, followed by offering collection.

The Pastor, Rev. Nimely, later introduced Mr. Harry and welcomed him to the pulpit. Mr. Harry greeted the congregation, threw in one or two anecdotes and began his sermon whose theme was: “God is there to Solve Your Problems,” based on the text in I Peter 5:7.

Mr. Harry stressed that when we realized that we are helpless and therefore desire God’s intervention in our lives/troubles, that’s when God is glorified and more than willing and ready to help us. The Executive Director also emphasized that we must never make the mistake of believing that we can solve our own problems without God’s intervention. “The compassionate nature of God is beyond description,” Mr. Harry continued.

That cost-free telephone line called prayer,” Mr. Harry continued, “must be valued and utilized if we want to see God manifesting Himself in our lives.” He averred that God does not care for us because we submit our problems to Him, but we submit our problems to Him because He already cares. “Isn’t this fantastic?” He rhetorically asked.

At the end of the worship, a light refreshment was made available for the guests, though the rest of the church participated. The atmosphere was friendly and Christian.

The church worships in a mixed-shift structure: no good benches, chairs, etc. They are trying to improve on the existing structure. They are in need of bags of cement, bundles of Zinc, benches, chairs, etc.
